Should India take an initiative to host an Olympics?

Well topic says it all. The most sparkling chapter in sports- Olympic- should India take an initiative to host it in the near future?

I feel yes as India is developed and has the capability of hosting this event but only if the initiative is taken by a private company- say something like Kingfisher. I feel the set-up, hosting, maintenance,etc will be well managed if it is undertaken by a private company rather than the Government.
Also an international flavour is added if a private company undertakes the project. The government may also be able to do a good enough job , but the money that is required for the project - might only be fulfilled by private companies.

So what do you guys say?

In many countries the Olympics are organised by private cos. So it is a good idea to host the Olympics in India.

No......i dont think India has the infrastucture to organise the olympics.......

well...lets face it.India's sports infrastructure is very poor.there are no stadiums which satisfy world standards.I mean.....compare eden gardens and wankede stadium to the Beijing fish bowl or Allianze arena..
no chance man.Plus I dont think that india has the financial backing to host an Olympic games...

They coudnt even host the IPL for God's sake.........If India does get a chance to host a world wide sporting event i t will be politicized by politicians......

But we can always be optimistic that India can and will host a mega sporting event!

The IPL was not hosted due to security reasons- elections. So that is a different issue.
But your view about infrastructure and other things are very appropriate.

exactly security will be a big issue if india wants to host an olympics..........i bet that many countries will refuse to participate if it is in india................

I don't think people will refuse because of the Tag-- "Olympics" .
