| I have 3 computers on my lan. I'm running Windows XP on two of them and Vista on the third. The other day, something decided to stop sharing my computer with the rest of the lan. It left the printer alone and the other computers can still use it.
The first thing that I noticed was that all of my shared folders were unshared. Then I noticed that my workgroup was missing from My Network Places. I could not see the other computers from my machine. The shared folders and mapped drive from the other XP machine were still showing, but, I was denied access. I checked the other XP machine and found that my computer was still visible, but, I was denied access.
I spent all day Googling and reading help files, checking configuration settings, and finally doing a repair installation of the OS and the best I could come up with is installing the IPX protocol. I am networked now but when I click on the View workgroup computers button, I can only see the 2 XP machines. That's ok because my son doesn't allow access to his computer anyway.
It was all working fine the other day.
Anybody got any ideas? | |

| There's one thing which you can try though I don't know how effective it will be---
First of all go to View Your Connections- Right click on LAN- Click on Bridge Connections. If you are allowed to make a bridge connection, then that means your LAN is working. There maybe some other problem. But atleast you can be sure that your LAN is working.
Secondly, you can Make A New Connection which is connected to the other 2 computers. Go to the other computers and then Enable the LAN.
You can just try these out. I'm really not sure whether they will work or not. All the Best! | |

| Thanks guys for the suggestions. It's not working right but I have gotten the computers networking using an old protocol that games use to use to network. So, I've got connectivity but it's slow compared to the Windows protocol. | |

| Here's an update. I wasn't satisfied, so I formated my drive and started fresh. In doing so, I solved an installation problem that had been bugging me forever. Now, my audio is installed correctly. The whole system is running better than ever. Except for some TV shows I lost, I am much better for the experience.
Thanks. | |

| That's good news. Congratulations. By the way where do you get the TV shows from? Is it PCTV.net? | |

| Oh ok. But many people say that PCTV is the best. I am neutral. | |

| I Googled for free clients and found PC-TV Free Satellite Video Viewer which I installed and ran. It allowed about ten stations but, when I tried one I waited for a long time and it never loaded. It offered 3000 stations in the registered version. I doesn't work on my connection. I found one torrent for pctv.rar but there were no seeds. I found PCTV4ME on RapidShare, but, Avast wouldn't allow me to download it. I installed PCTV4ME, but, it will only allow radio -- no TV. Which client were you going to try? | |
