| The 2nd edition of the DLF Indian Premier League is all set to be held in South Africa. Who is to blame for this fiasco the Govt of India or the BCCI. Voice your opinions in this post. | |

| I think it was better not to hold IPL than shifting it to another country. Even England had the bomb blasts but they have never hold their EPL matches outside their country.
IPL is one of the very few things India is proud in the field of sports. By shifting it to another country they have destroyed its reputation.
What if the International players are telling that they cant play in India even next year, will they change the venue then also??
I understand India was not able to provide security because of elections but they could have had the IPL some other time in India itself.

| Both, IPL and General Elections can't be postponed for a last time this year. IPL has its window period only during April-May every year, and ofcourse you can't postpone the General Elections for a game of cricket. You could only blame it for the lack of people joining the police, security and paramilitary forces. | |

| If they postpone IPL some other time, then most of outside cricket players couldnt play becuz there may be other matches during tht season.. It wont be fun watching game without star players..
T20 world cup will start on June.. They need to conduct IPL before June somehow or else even indian t20 players cudnt play in IPL..

| accordind to me the ICC should first be made a part of the international cricket calendar.only then will we have all players available for the league. Secondly, wasnt the BCCI aware of the fact that the nation was to go to polls during April and May. either they are complete idiots or they think they are the bosses of the country to get the elections postponed. When the government said they wouldnt be able to provide full security couldnt the BCCI have used private security forces for the matches.
According to me the BCCI is the most arrogant sporting body in the world. After all what was wrong in postponing it or holding a shorter version of the IPL.

According to me the BCCI is the most arrogant sporting body in the world. After all what was wrong in postponing it or holding a shorter version of the IPL. The IPL wasn't postponed because the cricketing season starts by June. Then most of the players playing in the IPL would be the retired ones or the tier-II cricketers. Also, the ICC World Twenty20 is taking place in June. The matter of security came up only after the attack on the Sri Lankan Cricketers in Pakistan. Until then, all the Governments in the Indian Subcontinent would hold sporting tournaments; even though there is always of threat of terrorism; by convincing the Visiting Team by telling them that sportspersons (cricketers) were never targetted by terrorists. The ICC has made an unofficial window period for the IPL which is May-June. This year there's only the England-West Indies Test Series during that period.
